Hi, my name is Richard Brown, owner and operator of Beach Ready Auto. This new repair facility is founded on a disagreement with the way many garages are operated and managed. We want to work in a shop where it’s understood that people find it hard to part with their money, especially for car repair. We want to acknowledge customers’ concerns and provide transparent service.

 

We believe customers should be armed with as much information as they want to digest. For some, that means knowing the difference between a u-joint and a ball-joint. For others, it means knowing how to replace the windshield-wiper fluid and nothing more. Car owners are welcome to come into the service area when their car is on the lift and talk to the technician. We’re selling an environment where customers feel welcome and respected.

 

Our standards have been set high to insure the highest quality of professional auto repair work is always completed. Every customer will leave Beach Ready Auto Repair 100% satisfied every time. A little background on Beach Ready Auto

I have lived in the Outer Banks now for 10 years. 5 years ago I started a tour company called Wild Horse Adventure Tours, driving 10 vehicles, 12 hours a day, 7 days a week on a beach during the summer months really takes its toll on the vehicles. I found myself trying many different repair facilities here on the Outer Banks but none offered all the service my business required. At the point of the creation of Beach Ready Auto service i had 5 vehicles spread among 3 repair shops and 2 back-yard mechanics. I'm not going to even touch on the back-yard mechanic problems I experienced other than to say i do not recommend using them. As for the true auto repair shops, these are the frustrations i faced:

 

Issue: You drop your vehicle off and two days later you get a call with the diagnosis and are advised that parts are ordered and it will be another couple of days before work can start

Resolution: We will be sure to get the vehicle in the same day to advice of the issues found. We will do our best to stock the most commonly used parts, if we have to order parts this is will done immediately upon your approval and work can begin as soon as parts arrive. This could potentially cut the repair time in half or more.

Issue: The service manager (salesman) is heavily focused on upsell.

Resolution: Heavy upselling would certainly create more profit from the initial visit but we believe that by being up-front and honest, saving the customer money, we create a long lasting the relationship that pays in the long run.

Issue: Parts are replaced until the problem is fixed.

Resolution: This can be attributed to two reasons. Either this is done to create a larger ticket for the customer and so more profit for the service manager, the tech and the shop. The other reason maybe honest but is a result of lack of expertise and skills of the technician. This is solved by treating the customer as we would like to be treated and only employing the very best mechanics with many years of experience. This saves the customer money and we hope again creates lifetime customers.

Issue: Substandard waiting areas. You want the comfort of the big dealership but the care and affordability of the small repair shop

Resolution: We offer two comfortable waiting rooms. One area is designed for the family with children, it includes play toys and cartoons playing all day. The other offers TV, complimentary WI-FI and Coffee.

Issue: I have a European vehicle so I have to take it to Virginia to have it serviced by the dealership.

Resolution: At Beach Ready Auto we do not only have the expertise but also the latest technology to diagnose and fix most "dealer only" problems. Many garages do not carry this technology and so are unable to carry out specialist repairs.
